Ice Snapshots Around Our House

While outside feeding Hoss, who is warm in his stall, I walked around and took some pics, the sun is trying to warmth but still's supposed to get down to 0 again tonight. I can't feed the bird's cuse the ice is covering the tops and my DH has to take the truck cuse he couldn't get out of the driveway, as you can driveway is almost blocked by hanging pine trees, the ice is so heavy! I love the pic of my Willow tree all covered in ice. The kids are home again and we are staying warm and coloring.

So far we have never lost our power. I hope that those that have no power gets theirs on soon, It's so cold outside and we have wind gusts up to 25 mph today.

Have a Safe and Warm Weekend!

Whatcha Working On Wed. ~ Snow/Ice Storm

This is what I hope to work on today if we still have power, It's a nice burgandy mirror that I want to clean up and paint on the bottom "Faith~Family~Friends" in a nice Tan color.

This is us today, level 2 Snow Emergency so far..Ice and now heavy snow..I'm hoping that the power stays on, there is no way I could drive us to my Mom's house in town. It's very loud outside as the wind hits the trees, pops and cracking.

Lookie What I Got..As My Kids say..LOL..

I slid my way to the mailbox this afternoon and was so happy for some mail love, it's been a long day with the kids cooped up in the house. See how nice they look next to my antique Roseville OH pottery. I'm on the lookout for some more matching or close to it items.
I'd LOVE an all white tall rooster to set on my kitchen table..Any ideas of where I can find one?

Catch-Up and Coupons for the Military

Today the kids have no school because of the weather..SNOW and more FREEZING I have C helping me cut out coupons. I have gotten into the habit of taking my beat up coupon binder with me at all times now. We were thinking of something to do with the coupons that I don't use..We thought we could send them to Coupons for the Military...Do any of you have an address or a way for me to look up some info on this..I have read somewhere out in blogland about this but now I can't remember where.

On Saturday we met my mom and sister at Olive Garden to celebrate my sister's 18th b-day party, We got the special treatment for her, the whole cake and Happy Birthday was so much fun to surprise her and it was such good food!!

Early Sunday morning lil guy decided he was going to pick up our tom cat that was sleeping in the laundry room, this is his forehead after the attack, not sure how it happened but the cat freaked, Lil guy has a very bad scratch next to his eye which resulted in a morning trip to the ER..he is now on tons of meds and the cat stays outside from now on. I won't show a pic of his eye...He looks like someone hit him and gave him a shiner!

RIP~ Fluffy the Barn Cat

What a sad start to a otherwise beautiful day, this morning the girls walked outside for the bus at the end of the driveway to be told by our next door neighbor boy that our fav. barn cat had been hit by a car..Fluffy adopted us about a year 1/2 ago and has been at our door just about every day for dinner in the laundry room and a little nap before heading back out. Tomorrow we will lay her to rest.

The girls are very upset so today I'm off to surprise them at lunch with MCD's at school.

I love living out in the country but I'm starting to hate that road, people drive way to fast for my liking.

Blue Pottery and Roosters~Perfect!

I'm so excited I can hardly sit still!! I have been wanting to blend my Rooster collection in with my Blue pottery collection and I wasn't having any luck with my searching thru catalogs, tonight I couldn't sleep so I was browsing on Etsy and OH...MY...GOSH..Look what I found for my kitchen!! I'm in heaven, it's a lovely set from

SSSHHHHHHH..DH is sleeping and doesn't know yet, He laughs at my

Today was a very stressful day, I had to take lil guy into the urgent care because of ear pain, poor guy woke up at 6 am crying and couldn't sleep, He has an ear infection and is on meds now..Finally had him go to bed early and he is sleeping well. Abigail is starting to cough bad again too so I'm sure she will develop something nasty also. Crystal is so far in the clear.

Well, I think I can rest easy little on-line shopping to get me sleepy!

Is Americana a Thing of The Past?

I was on HGTV's RMS and saw a lovely Americana decorated living room, some Lady enjoys Americana, like I do, and was brave enough to post her pics..Well, many ppl on there were not very nice and one person even said that Americana was a thing of the past and NO ONE decorates in Americana anymore. So last night I was thinking..When is showing/decorating in the Red,White and Blue out of date? When is showing how proud we are of the United States of America so untrendy?

With today bringing in a New President and the promise of change, We need to be proud of our Country and the freedom that it has!

Do you have one piece of Americana in your house? Do you think that Americana is "A thing of the past"?

Organizing and Bloody Nose Scare

I can't believe it's been so long since my last post. I have been busy with the 3 kids, last Thurs. and Friday there was no school due to weather and today is the Holiday, everyone is home but we are busy cleaning and organizing and dusting! This morning was very scary for me as my Lil guy had a bloody nose and every time he coughed (he has a cold too) it would run worse, It was just dripping down his face and I was so ready to run him into the ER but after making him stay still and hold his head back and another dose of cough meds it seems to be stopped for good...He always gets these bloody noses in the Winter.

Here is our lil bookcase next to the's a thorn in my side..the kids store their coloring books on the shelf but it's always a huge mess. We found a desk for Abigail months ago so today we moved all the coloring books and just stuff into her room and got it organized in her new desk. Now when there are guests over this looks so much better and it's easier to close the bedroom I know that the very top shelf is bare, I can't reach it and not sure what to put up there.

Whatcha Working On Wed.

Laundry Room Touch-Up

I have seen some very pretty laundry rooms on Blogger here within the last few weeks, I have laundry room envy! The house came with this awful paneling and dark shelves. I would love to paint and get real cabinets to hide my stuff...some stuff I can hide in my antique baskets but not those tall dorky liquid laundry soap bottles..Am I the only one that still used the liquid kind..the powder is so very pretty and elegant in those glass bottles. I have a small collection of antique baskets and for awhile there I started to collect anything Amish, you can see a few in my laundry room. I dusted and moved alot out of here, it has become the catch-all for recycling, pets, and camping..uugghh. This is what I have done today on this very cold snowy slow day, the kids have come home early from school and are doing homework now.

Yes, that is Wheeler, he doesn't know that he is really an outside

3 New Books Posted Today

3 Debbie Macomber and 1 Diana Palmer, Come over for a good read and say HI while your visiting!

Surgery Update, Homefront, 1 book down..Easy Start to the Week

Yesterday My MILs DH went thru his Bypass Surgery very well, It was a 5 hour surgery and around 6:00 my DH called me to tell me that he was in recovery and all was well. He will be in the Hospital for another week and then sent home..Please keep my MIL in your thoughts and prayers as she helps him recover and gain his strength back.

On the Homefront, DH has been at his new job for a week now, leaving before anyone is up and coming home after the kids are already in bed. The first week was rough as the kids were missing Dad and knew that he wasn't going to be here for dinner so they were pushing my buttons! It's like we have to learn a whole new routine, homework..chores..dinner..slow down time..bed..and then the house is so "still" for a while. I need some more "Fun" recipes for dinner the kids say...Any ideas?

I also finished the first book "Twilight" in the Vampire series and started the second book last night, I'm very surprised at how much I am enjoying these, I wasn't sure I would since it's more for the Teen scene.

It's really snowing now and it is going to get VERY COLD here in a few days...It's pretty looking outside but I'm not looking forward to getting out there and feeding HOSS.

My Farmhouse Wall Hanging

This is my Rooster Farmhouse Wall hanging. In 2005 my Great Aunt Hazel made this for me for Christmas, my Dad gave the Rooster key/mail holder next to it and I found the egg pic. Even though I'm switching everything to a Blue Farmhouse Kitchen and this has no blue in it..I proudly display!
My MIL found the egg pic for me, I couldn't remember, Sorry Mom...LOL
Can Roosters and Blue decor live together? I'm not sure but I'm gonna find out!

An Old Beauty Moves to the Livingroom

After pondering our finances, Lack thereof, I had to look at what I have to fill this empty space. While I was folding laundry in my bedroom I looked over at my lil beauty. Here is an antique Duncan phfyfe table with matching chair..My mom bought this lovely set in Fl from an old lady many years ago. Nobody could appreciate the lil feet on this beauty if it was holding court in my bedroom. Now it can shine with the addition of more family pics.

I'm looking for ideas on Indoor houseplants, I want to fill up my Kitchen bay window on the cheap.

Hay Fieldtrip

We had to run and get Hay for the Old Man Hoss so we loaded up and went out for a Drive, it was 8 miles from our house and this guy had 185 was so big, I thought our 5 acres was alot!

The kids loved watching us unload!

I had to get up in the back of the truck and sweep up all the loose Hay and Hoss popped his head over the stall wall to say "HI"...LOL..Funny Guy!

Please keep your thoughts on Hoss tomorrow, We have the vet coming out to look at his Ringbone, It's acting up and causing him much pain..We can't keep him on meds for a long stretch of time cuse of complications so We have to see what the vet says about how much longer Hoss has with us.
