I was on HGTV's RMS and saw a lovely Americana decorated living room, some Lady enjoys Americana, like I do, and was brave enough to post her pics..Well, many ppl on there were not very nice and one person even said that Americana was a thing of the past and NO ONE decorates in Americana anymore. So last night I was thinking..When is showing/decorating in the Red,White and Blue out of date? When is showing how proud we are of the United States of America so untrendy?
With today bringing in a New President and the promise of change, We need to be proud of our Country and the freedom that it has!

Don't pay attention to those on rms, many of those who leave those kind of comments don't even post their own homes! I have many Amereicana pieces in my home, it is a part of who we are and our heritage and definitely fits in with the prim look!! Have a great day!!~Wendy

Americana was my Nanny's favorite way to decorate and that's how I will always remember her. I say whatever you like is in! Besides I am sure Country Sampler can find hundreds of home that still decorate Americana.

My bedroom would be what you would consider Americana. It didn't start that way. I love navy blue, I like red and stars are my favorite so it went from there ;)
I think things are only a thing of the past if you want them to be. Who cares what "they" say? :)

My kitchen and front porch are decorated in Americana! It will only go out of style at my house when I get tired of it, which will not be any time soon. And, I agree, mine looks very primitive. Americana on!
Red, White and Blue will never be out of style!
Trends come and go...but the red, white and blue have been around for centuries! We don't change the colors of our flag because it is no longer fashionable!
I say stick with what you like! Don't let other dictate how you choose to decorate your home!
ignore the sarcastic remarks on hgtv, most of them do not bother to post their own homes but complain about those that do.
i have sevral flags displayed throughout my home. no, i dont go for the ovverkill of items but i use a variety of things in the ivory/cream, dark red and navy blue theme. :)
Ive got 2 americana rooms in my house and I dont think Im out of date whatsoever! Dont listen to them! Its YOUR house, you can decorate it ANY way you wish!
I have to agree, don't listen to what 'they' have to say. What's in is what you love. Your house, your taste. I do alot of cottage style and supposedly that's out. Somebody forgot to tell my customers! If it's pink, it sells-go figure. I understand that 'boho' is coming into trend which is really eclectic, more of an anything goes approach.

Hey Heather; I so agree with you, and now Americana is not out of date, I think it is a timeless decor, and life style. I am sure that the person who made the comment is not a happy American we should pray for her. I have some Americana in my home not a lot but I do love my Country... So you go girl....

Americana is in our blood! Don't listen to any negative trash about it. I learned a long time ago that there are some very mean & cruel people on Rate My Space. I don't ever go there anymore.
If you love it, that is what is important, not what anyone else thinks. I know it is nice to find people who enjoy the same things we do, like here in blogland. So stick to the positive.
Americana isn't going anywhere.
