Barn Day~Friday

Usually on Fridays we go out to the barn to drop off feed and spend a few hours with Joey. On Friday Crystal has a DRs appointment so we won't be able to make it which is why we went out today.
The weather was so nice here in FL this afternoon!

I love how these two have such Patience with each other!

Having a Horse is so expensive and time consuming and somedays we just want to throw in the towel but there are days like today were everything works just right and the weather is perfect , makes you not want to leave the Barn.

Horsey Stitches, No Stove and Colds

Last Friday night was a Doozy!

Joey freaked out while in the cross ties, we don't know why or what spooked him but he did a number on himself, ended up needed emergency stitches on his lip where he tore it. After 7 days the vet will come back and remove his stitches. The swelling has gone down and he's back to being his sweet self. For now we are not going to be putting back into the cross ties until we are able to get Crystal's trainer out here to work with him.

So after the Vet left and Joey was tucked in for the night I went to fix a fast dinner, it was late and we were tired, I was thinking about some tator tots/nuggets and a veggie. As I was waiting for the stove to heat up the element decides now is a good time to die. Alot of sparking, smoking and even though I turned off the oven in a panic, It kept going almost causing a fire! So fast forward to today, we are still without a stove, Landlady said one is supposed to be delivered sometime on Thursday..I'm thankful for my Crock-pot and our Grill.

Last night I started to feel run down and had a slight sore throat so I went to bed early but this morning it's so much worse, every time I swallow it feels like I'm swallowing glass. Ouch!!

I wanted to post every day in March but these past few days have run me down.

I'll be back with a Happier post in a few days, I have ton's of posts I want to do but have no energy to do them.

Horse Ownership, Take 2

Today was a very busy but delightful day!

It started with a little horse show that Crystal, our oldest was in.

She did real good, won 3 Ribbons and $2.00!

The other 2 stayed busy daydreaming or playing with whatever they could find,

Then to end the day We went to go visit our New Purchase,

Meet "Joey"

You will be seeing lots of him in the future. We are working on boarding right now so he is staying with his old Mommy for awhile.

This new Mommy (me) has to get used to nightly stall cleanings again!

I'm joining these fun parties~

The Budweiser Clydesdales

The barn that we ride at here in FL had a couple of visitors this past week.
These Clydesdales are so majestic!

Here is a video if you have time to watch it, We got our pictures with the horses at the end.

Our 2 girls are taking lessons as you know, Son hasn't gotten bit by the horse bug yet, his thing is Lego's right now and recently MineCraft.
Abigail's lesson

Abigail's new purple helmet was delivered yesterday so next Sat. she gets to wear it to her lesson, She looks very nice in purple and we will def. be able to spot her in a crowd.

Crystal's jumping lesson

Crystal is jumping higher and higher with each lesson, just watching her makes me a nervous ninny. I'm a Worry-wort when it comes to our kids.

So that is where we are at every Sat. and we love being there, we have made some wonderful friends and the kids are learning new things that they will remember forever!

Christmas vacation is over and everyone is back to school/work. I'm trying to stay busy and deep clean since we were lazy for over 2 weeks.

When do you start your De-cluttering/Spring cleaning? I'm wondering how others start this process or do you just keep at it all year long?

I'm joining in on these Parties~

Searching for the Right Horse takes Time

We have decided that this year is a good time to add to our Family. We are searching for the perfect horse for us. He/She is out there but we are taking our sweet time about it.

This past Sunday we looked at my Sister's horse named Farrah. She is a sweet horse. Great height for Crystal and Farrah is at a great age to join our Family.

Sweet Picture

All 3 kids with Farrah

Here is a short video of Crystal's Trainer riding Farrah

So there are some things that we need to discuss about Farrah, She is a fast horse and getting her to Stop is something that Crystal will need to work on. We are thinking of Leasing Farrah with the option to buy later. We would board her at the the Stables where the kids take riding lessons so every day we would be out there. I love the smell of being in a barn and miss it!

Back in the Saddle

After being in a sling for 6 weeks this Summer due to breaking her Collar bone in 2 places Crystal went for her first "Back in the Saddle" ride today with her Instructor Teresa. Crystal is riding "Captain", isn't he a beauty! She did really well but we did cut it short due to her starting to feel tired, it will be some time before she regains full strength in her collarbone/arm again.
We are on the lookout for a nice horse to lease, Abigail has shown interest in learning more about horses and riding so we enrolled her in a Saddle Club. Every Sat. in the afternoon is booked up with us being at the stable..I'm looking forward to it!

Month in Review

I am going to start a new end of the Month review here, I will share with you how our Month was, Good or Bad.

The month of August was a tough one for us health wise here, Crystal broke her Collarbone in 2 places and in a sling for weeks. It was very hard for her and we fought all the time about her wearing her sling. It was for her benefit of course but she only saw it as an embarressment . She has been unable to ride and we had to put off finding that perfect horse for her. We do want to get another horse, part of me doesn't want to as I think that chapter in our lives is closed but part of me is excited. So we took Crystal to the Orthopedic Dr. and the X-rays show that her Collarbone has healed and she gets to get back into the saddle in about 2 more weeks! Here is a snippet of her Facebook post to her friends~Well, god has truly blessed me today:) the doctors said I don't need the surgery and I can ride within a one to two week timeframe! Yay !  but, I will have to do pt to regain the strength necessary to ride back within my shoulder and arm and to regain some lost mussel and to get my joint fluidly moving again. But other than that it's much better than what could have been!  very happy~
YAY!!!!!

Abigail and Tank are enjoying the first couple weeks of School...Time will tell on how this year will go for the both of them.

I have gone to part time work at the Hospital, only working on Sat. now. It's easier with the kids and less stress on Richard. Last year it was hard because I had to be at work at 6 am so he would have to get all 3 kids up and fix them a lunch/breakfast and make sure they weren't late for the bus which often times would then make him late for work. Now I can do all of this again and he can help out when need be but still get to work on time.

Our 2 dogs and cat are suffering from flea's so bad and have hot spots on their backs, I'm looking for some sort of over the counter treatment for them. We hate to see this, It's been a hot humid Summer and Fleas are bad.

My daughter and I are hooked on Downton Abby and I've gotten caught up on Season 1 and 2 and waiting for Season 3 from the Library. It's real nice having something to enjoy with Crystal. I can't get into her music...oh boy the music she listens too..and it's not foul but new age Country..I miss the good ole boys in my day singing..Garth Brooks where are you??

Richard is really stressed right now at work, I won't say to much here but maybe there will be some huge changes coming for us in the future. Some that we will welcome as we are not extremely happy at the moment.

There is my new Month in Review for August. Not very exciting, very stressful with Health and starting School. We hope September is nicer to us!

Horse'n Around with Foals!

This little girl was born the other day over at our neighbors.

She was a total surprise and she is a premie, such a little cutie!

Today she is stronger and very alert, she isn't afraid of us and I got to pet her for a few minutes.

It made me think of HOSS back in OH and oh How I do miss the old boy.

Maybe another Horse is in our future?

Sisters Forever part 1

Warning~Very scary, depressing bedroom...

In a few short days this space which is in a sad state since we gave my Mom her bedroom set back will be transformed into a shared space between 2 sisters 4 years apart.

We have ordered a Bedroom set from Rooms-to-Go (2 twin beds and 1 nightstand to go in the middle) which will be delivered this Wed.!

We have taken apart the built in tv stand the landlord left here as you can see from the soon to be filled in nail holes in the right hand corner. We are having the room painted and both girls have agreed on a Horse theme.

We have decided to turn this into a Blessing.

So I ask You for ideas on shared spaces between Sisters...this is a Journey we have never taken before since we have been lucky enough that the 3 kids have always had their own room. Do you have fond memories of sharing with your siblings or do your kids share a room today?

Click on the Picture for a Wide view
We have decided to stay here in this Rental for another year, searching for a house with land within 3 school systems was turning out to be a futile effort as there was not one house available within our time period.

The Landlady has decided to Lower the Rent, and let us update the house the way we prefer. All of which has made us very Happy this month!

Since we are staying another year, We have decided to have the girls share the biggest room and this will then leave one bedroom open for Husband to have his Office again. He needs one for those late night On-Call sessions and his Ham Radios.

I have also installed the new "BlogLovin" button on my sidebar so Please continue to follow meFollow my blog with Bloglovin

Back in the Saddle!

Crystal is Back in the Saddle!

We found such a nice lady that gives horse back riding lessons and even though we have had a horse, it's been over a year since we rode so this is a great way to brush up on horse riding and get our horsey fix in at the same time!

My iphone has decided that it doesn't like to take good pics anymore, I'm looking for a good camera, Any ideas? What do you use?

I have posted pics of him in the past but you can watch him in short action.. but please go to my Youtube channel to watch, we posted music to it to shut out the chatter..lol..

Whatcha Working on Wednesday

This morning I'm dreaming about Spring and Flowers, I'm thinking of the changes I wish to make to the front of our house, nothing major, just the addition of flower pots and such. I'm so ready for Spring that I can taste it..lol..

This is the front of our house after we pulled up all these overgrown bee infested bushes last year, I'm planning on adding another humming bird feeder next to the bay window and lot more flowers, I want red geraniums all over! I also want some more seating for our porch.

I'm planning on adding some red flowers to this mix this year and making sure that I make time to weed better than I did last year. I love how this looks out my bay window!

It's already been a busy morning, lil Abby missed the bus so I had to drive her and since it's supposed to be so nice today I let HOSS out and play in the pasture. Now lil guy and I are out to take movies back to Blockbuster.

Have a Great Wed.

Hay Fieldtrip

We had to run and get Hay for the Old Man Hoss so we loaded up and went out for a Drive, it was 8 miles from our house and this guy had 185 acres..WOW..it was so big, I thought our 5 acres was alot!

The kids loved watching us unload!

I had to get up in the back of the truck and sweep up all the loose Hay and Hoss popped his head over the stall wall to say "HI"...LOL..Funny Guy!

Please keep your thoughts on Hoss tomorrow, We have the vet coming out to look at his Ringbone, It's acting up and causing him much pain..We can't keep him on meds for a long stretch of time cuse of complications so We have to see what the vet says about how much longer Hoss has with us.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I want to wish all of you, My Dear bloggy friends a Happy New Year!

We have had some rough patches in 2008, I'm looking forward to a much improved 2009!

I thought I'd start the New Year with an update on HOSS, Since he is now 20 We think that he has earned the right to be a pasture pal. This means that in the summer if we can afford it we will be looking for another "bombproof" horse. Crystal is so excited about this. We have to see how much overtime they work DH at his new job first. Today I'm running to the Vets for some pain meds for HOSS as his Ringbone is acting up, hence why we are "turning him out to pasture"..lol..He will be a well loved spoiled old boy for sure!

Our plans for tonight is to watch the ball drop on TV, We never go out..I like to be home and snuggled in front of the TV!

What are your plans? Do you go out and see friends or go to parties? Whatever you do have a SAFE and Happy evening!
