Kitchen Vignette With Stitches

I wanted to spruce up this half wall in our Kitchen for some time now. The ledge is giving me trouble, I'm not happy with anything I've set on it so far.

While drinking my cup of coffee this morning I was staring at it and an idea was formed. I love my Coffee!!

The candle sticks were purchased at a garage sale, vanilla scented votives are from Wal-Mart. The wall hanging was stitched by my Mother about 7 years ago.

The plant stand was mailed to me in exchange for a review about 8 years ago and has held up well over time. The plant is a ponytail palm we bought from Wal-Mart 4 years ago. I've kept it alive so far!

Close up of the saying that is stitched on the wall hanging.

I declare this corner done...For now!

Spring Greens

I don't have much of a green thumb but when Home Depot had these huge Boston Ferns on sale for only $5.00 last Saturday I knew I had to purchase and give it a go...here's hoping I don't kill it!

Here is the Bonsia Ponytail plant that I've managed to keep it alive for almost 4 years! It really loves this corner of our kitchen and whenever we move it is placed in our kitchen next to a window.

I'm thinking about setting up a little container garden on our porch this year, We really want to try our hand at growing Tomatos in FL this year.

Have any of you had a container garden?

Spring has Sprung

It's warming up here in FL. Each new day the temps rise and it's the perfect time to start opening up the windows and get your gloves ready for planting flowers.
I have bought a little Herb Planter for my kitchen window, lots of sun shining through here in the afternoons.
I bought this at Home Depot for under $8.00. Now I have fresh Basil, Oregano and Parsley.

I moved my Ponytail plant over here and it seems to like this little wall so far.
Next weekend we plan on buying some flowers for our outside patio but for now we are back to school after a nice Spring Break.

What houseplants, if any, do you have?

Whatcha Working on Wednesday

This morning I'm dreaming about Spring and Flowers, I'm thinking of the changes I wish to make to the front of our house, nothing major, just the addition of flower pots and such. I'm so ready for Spring that I can taste it..lol..

This is the front of our house after we pulled up all these overgrown bee infested bushes last year, I'm planning on adding another humming bird feeder next to the bay window and lot more flowers, I want red geraniums all over! I also want some more seating for our porch.

I'm planning on adding some red flowers to this mix this year and making sure that I make time to weed better than I did last year. I love how this looks out my bay window!

It's already been a busy morning, lil Abby missed the bus so I had to drive her and since it's supposed to be so nice today I let HOSS out and play in the pasture. Now lil guy and I are out to take movies back to Blockbuster.

Have a Great Wed.

A Bay Window Makeover~Simple and Sweet

This is my poor bamboo plant, I have had her for almost 2 years now, she was a Housewarming present and she is showing her age..I moved her out of the window and back by my sink..less light and more water...leave it to me to kill Bamboo!!! Can anything be done??

I found these lil friends at Jo-Ann's on Friday begging to come home with me, I added an old nest that blew out of our tree last year. I'm looking for some eggs to put in it and a few lil birdie. I'd love to have a glass dome for the plate but that will have to wait.

A close-up of my lil Friends, The plate is pottery from Zanesville OH.

An Old Beauty Moves to the Livingroom

After pondering our finances, Lack thereof, I had to look at what I have to fill this empty space. While I was folding laundry in my bedroom I looked over at my lil beauty. Here is an antique Duncan phfyfe table with matching chair..My mom bought this lovely set in Fl from an old lady many years ago. Nobody could appreciate the lil feet on this beauty if it was holding court in my bedroom. Now it can shine with the addition of more family pics.

I'm looking for ideas on Indoor houseplants, I want to fill up my Kitchen bay window on the cheap.
