First Ever Easy Sew Skirts- Week 1

So since this blog is supposed to be about my Stitches I have set myself a goal of posting a project a week.

These are a pair of skirts I stitched together, so easy to measure the girls waist and straight stitch some elastic in the waistband. I had been putting this off for some time cuse I was afraid of messing it up. The girls are happy with their skirts and I'm happy I met my goal. I love the little pink roses!

SuperKids Camp 2009

http://www.superkidsonline.org/
You can read more here on this great camp.

This year both Crystal and Abigail got to go to camp, 3 days 2 nights of fellowship and learning about GOD. They both had a blast and came home so sleepy.

This year Richard is helping out by running the cameras and learning the soundboard, next year I'll help out since they do have babysitting for the younger kids..Tank has 2 years before he can attend.

I'm working on a big project for the girls and will post as soon as I finish, this is going out of my comfort zone but is turning out so sweet!!

Sewing Room Reveal

It's been months in the making but we are now finished..I am so excited to share with ya'll today! I still have to find storage for some craft items but most is put away. DH has built a wall where there was none before and added a door..We have painted a nice shade of yellow..still need to find some curtains for the window..You can tell how yucky it is outside..lol..I now have space for my quilt table to unfold in the middle of the room and notice my new sewing machine wall..The cabinet holds all of my fabric still but I have the addition of cable T.V. for my fav. shows. We found a home for the futon on the wall for guests..still need to hang some things today. OH and Please notice my NEW carpet..DH bought it from work many months ago, the color is a mixed Blue and looks nice with the Yellow walls..they are carpet tiles that you stick down..very nice and easy to clean! We hope to be able to put up a drop ceiling some time in the future.

Sorry that the pics are dark and grainy..Very yucky day mixed with an old camera..lol..

Can you see/think of any more storage ideas? I'd love some shelves above the quilt table one day.

I'm Honored.... Grandma's Sewing Baskets

Lookie What I have! I have been honored with DH's Grandma's sewing baskets! She passed away some time ago, the family has sold the house and most of the contents but it was decided that I would have the sewing baskets. I feel very honored that they would pass these on to me, I didn't know DH's step-moms Mother very well. Inside is some great goodies, ric-rac and lace and buttons galore! I'm looking thru everything like a kid in the candy store..lol..

Thank You All for the kind word and well wishes, today I'm feeling a little better and am on the mend.

I have a great book to share with you all tomorrow for my BookWorm Friday so come back :)

My Sad Sewing Corner

I have noticed that some of you ladies have Fab. looking sewing ROOMS with plenty of storage and COLOR!! I'm full of sewing room envy! My little sewing corner is in my basement, I have no storage except one cabinet and the color is bland puke green...no wonder I have no desire to start a quilt..it's depressing down here..At least with my Stitches I can take it anywhere..LOL.. Let's take a stroll thru ...NO Lets just stand and cry as we look and shake our heads...If you see or have any inspiration/thoughts PLEASE share!

My sewing machine is a White brand and has not given me any trouble so far..I like the simplicity of it..I have tons of batting/stuffing for my pillows...
DH's computer stuff keeps getting in my way...He always has spare parts around..Keyboards sticking out of boxes..SHEESH
I have my fabric in the wood cabinet there and my Etsy items in a clear box next to it. I have tried to make this corner as nice as I can...Doesn't look so nice in this pic..
Here is how it looks walking into my little corner..I even get a basement window! The walls are brick and that's why we haven't put up shelves..I'm thinking a nice yellow to brighten up the space? Maybe put this on HGTV and have someone come Fab. it up for me..LOL..

There I have shared my sad secret..LOL..My little sewing corner.

My Crafty Weekend

On Sunday I went with my Mother to visit the Cincinnati Art Museum to see the new exhibition, Masterpiece Quilts from the Shelburne Museum, You can read the info about it here http://www.cincinnatiartmuseum.org/absolutenm/templates/ArtTempExhibitions.aspx?articleid=603&zoneid=65

It was amazing to see the workmanship on these quilts, the colors were so vibrant still! Afterwards my mother and I visited the quilt giftshop and I found this treasure waiting for me,
Ohio Is My Dwelling Place: Schoolgirl Embroideries, 1800-1850 by Sue Studebaker.

I'm very excited to read this and I enjoyed looking and learning about all of the quilts and the people that made them!

A Very Happy Christmas!

We had such a happy Christmas, the pics are still on my camera. We had my mom here and DH's mom and her DH. We cooked Ham and all the trimmings and many cookies. This weekend my Sister and her new baby will be visiting and I'm so excited, We have not seen each other since the 4th of July. I'm cleaning house and packing up Christmas and trying to arrange the furniture, since we have only been here for about 6 months now I'm still trying to find the right arrangement for our living room. We are having the fireplace inspected today and I'm hoping that it passes so I can get one of those Java Logs, Has anyone used one before?

I'm finishing up some pillows and making another towel in hopes of getting my little shop open sometime in Jan.
