Whatcha Working on Wednesday

I was at Goodwill peeking thru the goods when I saw this bag of clothespins, I know that I have seen some on another blog all grubbed up so I grabbed them and now I can't remember where I saw that idea . The price was good to, only .49 cents! Do you have ideas for these darling clothespins, Please share! I am hoping to get crafting today since it's only Lil Man and I.

I've seen where some people dip them in wax, then sprinkle with cinnamom & also modgepodge, then roll in your spices. Sorry I couldn't direct you to a tutorial.

Maybe Christmas ornaments make them into little people.
Or paint them different colors make a cute little sign for the laundry room with a cute saying on it and have a piece of twine or juet (sp?)going across it with a little saying.
Use them for a laundry tree for your laundry room. Or a Christmas tree for you laundry room and make little Santa clothes to hang from them.
Or get a clear glass or plastic container and put them in to have on your laundry room shelf you could even paint them pretty colors before you put them in.
That is all I got for now.

Hi Heather,

I know on the Country Sampler forum under crafting, Karen has a recipe for grubbing candles and I think clothespins too! If not there, then I know she does on her website. I have some I want to try too! (Too many things to try...too little time!) lol!

I used these once in a Sunday School class to make a nativity scene. You wrap fabric around them and tie at the waist with yarn or string. Make hair and the faces with a marker. We made Mary and Joseph from the clothes pins and then you stick them in playdough to make them stand up. Baby Jesus was half a walnut shell with a cotton ball wrapped in fabric (swaddling clothes) stuck down in it. Then we took a shoe box turned on its side to make the stable. You can use pine boughs, hay, leaves or whatever you can find in the yard to make it look like a stable. You could also use your imagination to make the Mary and Joseph look real like using felt for the hair, etc. The kids loved it and it was cute and something they could take home and put out in their homes.

I know this isn;t the same thing, but when I taught preschool, we made Baby Jesus out of those linds of clothespins. Just draw the face on with a black sharpe, add a ring of glitter for the halo, and wrap a piece of off-white cloth around for the "swaddling" clothes. Then tie on gold string to hang it on the tree. The kids loved making them!

Thanks for posting these... I have a large number of them too (was JUST talking to a girlfriend about them!) and was wondering what to do with them. She's into scrapbooking... suggested using them to wrap ribbon around, then throw them into a big bowl or mason jar to display.

I actually have these clothespins and what I did was dipped them in wax and rolled them in cinnamon and then dipped in wax again. I made an arrangement in my laundry/washroom. I have received many compliments on them.

I have also seen them wrapped up in homespun material and I believe they yet again were dipped in wax.

Good Luck...
