~~Happy Homemaker Monday 2-24-14~~

I thought I would try something new this morning while tank lays on the couch. We just got back from the DR's, he has an ear infection and has to stay home for 2 days on meds. Poor guy is running a fever and watching G.I. Joe on Netflixs.

As I look outside my window:::
I am sitting here at our kitchen table looking out the sliding doors and watching about 25-35 robins playing in our backyard, they just appeared this weekend. I'm listening to my wind-chime and thinking I need to replace it since it broke in the storm this past weekend.

Right now I am:::
drinking my Skinny Salted Caramel coffee from 7-11 that I got while gassing up to take Tank to the DR's this morning.

Thinking and pondering:::
I'm thinking about how our 3 kids are doing in school right now and what we can do to make it easier on them, we are stumped as to why this year is so hard for our oldest Crystal. Poor girl is struggling so much, I'm calling around for Tutors later today.

On my bedside table:::
I'm reading the Book Thief and have really begun to enjoy it, it was slow to me in the beginning.
2 random magazines that came in the mail on Saturday.

On my tv tonight:::
I really haven't watched anything here in the past few days other that Youtube, my little obsession as of late.

Listening to:::
The sounds of G.I Joe in the living room, brings back memories of when I'd watch it before school when I was little.

On the menu for this week:::
We are having pork tenderloin tonight with mixed veggies but so far that is all I have decided on, I'm in a cooking slump.

On my to do list:::
Pick up Tanks meds
take Abby to Tutoring after school
pick up Crystal from school late
call about Abby's braces

Happening this week:::
Lots of laundry and making sure Tank is feeling better enough to go back to school on Wed.
Take car in so they can put my trunk handle back on tight.

What I am sewing, crocheting, knitting or creating:::
Sadly I haven't stitched anything in a very long time, life has just gotten away from us in a bad way. I need to work on this.

My simple pleasure:::
Grabbing my first cup of coffee out of my new Keurig, I love this Keurig!!

Lesson learned the past week:::
No matter how bad we think we have it at this moment, our worst moments may be someones else's good days.

Looking around the house:::
I see a huge mess that I need to work on around my little boy with an earache today. With 2 of Crystal's friends staying all weekend with us my house is a mess.

From the camera:::
nothing as of yet

Prayer List:::
My Husband as he tries to deal with the stress of work
Crystal as she battles 8th grade, her grades are so bad

January~Month in Review

January started slow but it sure amped up with the purchase of this guy!

We are enjoying getting back into the swing of Horse ownership, I'm getting back into nightly habit of driving to the Boarding Stable for nightly stall cleaning. I do really, really miss having our own barn!

Richard has been doing Alot of travel for his work, gone for a whole week at a time, not loving it but it's needed with such a huge project out of state.

The kids are doing okay, nothing huge happened in January and we are ever so Thankful for it.

I did okay with my goal of reading 5 books in the month of january, I was able to read 3. Some weeks we are just so much busier than other weeks. I do try to read atleast 2 chapters are night.

I'm currently burning my Candle that I received for Christmas from an Etsy shop and it smells just like Balsam Fir. Sad to report that my light bulb in my Scentsy warmer died so I'm on the search for someone around here that sells them inorder to replace it, I miss having my Scentsy!

So January was a Happy, busy month for us!

A Finish...For Now...

I have a horrible Sinus infection and have no energy, I can barely keep up with these 3 kids today.

Before I got sick we finished hanging pics and these look very nice on the stairs, the plan for these are to be all in matching black frames.
Before

After

I really like how nice it looks!

Enjoy your week!

A Coffee Table or PlayPlace?

Today is snowing a very cold windy weather in the 20's and will be this way all week. So I'm cleaning and decorating and thinking to myself that I need more flat space to add some small decorations too!

I'm looking at these coffee tables  to fit the bill. Now that my 3 are older and know not to run into the corners and have boo-boos..lol..

But knowing my clan it would become full of toys and a playplace for Little Pet Shops and the Matchbox cars that run around under the couch!

The Story of Easter- A Book Review

From the Read and Share Bible brand, this retelling of the Easter story is explained in a way that helps young children understand the life, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus.
Based on the International Children's Bible, this story walks through the last week of Christ's life and is told in a way that teaches children about the amazing gift Jesus gave us. Events include His triumphant entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday through His appearance to the disciples and His ascension. The "Can You Retell the Story" activity at the end of the book is a fun way to hide the Word in their heart.
The animated DVD includes a 15-minutes of stories plus coloring pages and other bonus features.

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from Thomas Nelson Publishers as part of their BookSneeze.com <http://BookSneeze.com> book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255 <http://www.access.gpo.gov/nara/cfr/waisidx_03/16cfr255_03.html> : “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.”

I'm happy to be able to tuck this away for a surprise on Easter morning. I read it today while the kids are at school and I'm pleased with the bright colored pictures and easy to read format. It tells the story of how Easter came about very simply for children., my 11 yr old will be able to read it to her  brother and sister with ease. The DVD which was included was put together nicely and the stories were informative and easy to follow. This is one book which will be displayed every Easter from now on!

Now here is a fast question....What if any books or video's do you share on Easter?

What A Nice Weekend!

So on Sat. we worked all day out in the barn getting it ready for the Winter again, cleaned and swept up the cobwebs raked the floor to rid it of hay bits. We saw many a worm and found a lil nest of baby mice..She had the nest under our bag that we keep the used up wire that the hay is wrapped in. So the kids had a science class while helping Mom and Dad. Making good memories! We hope that this will be a better year for Hoss but he has started to favor his right front leg already...poor old guy! I fixed an big pot of Green Bean/Ham and Potatoe soup...It was so good after working outside all day. My back was very sore afterwards and I find that I'm not as strong as I used to be.

On Sunday we had Church and then we came home to lunch and rest time. I finally got that chance to sit down and Stitch! I'm Stitching some napkins with Dark Red stars, 1 big star on each napkin..Sweet!

I'm enjoying the new book I got and more than halfway done with it...too bad it's her last on one in the series.

Today I'm fixing a Roast in the crockpot, doing my household chores and trying to keep lil guy busy and not bother Crystal who is home sick with an upset stomach.

I'm loving the Fall weather and cooler temps...How is the Weather were you are?

Sorry no pics this post.

It turned out Cute and will sit upon a painted white shelf as soon as the shelf dries. Do I paint the frame or leave it as is...still pondering... It took no money and less then 5 minutes!

A Lil Surprise from a New Friend

I have met the nicest lady at our new Church, her daughter is in my daughters class and we had no idea till we really started to talk and from there our friendship grew. She brought over such a nice gift after seeing how much I love my Roosters! She has even offered her help on Wed. when DD goes in for her Mole Removal Surgery. You just don't often find such good kind people anymore!

Today was a really nice day, went to a nice lil antique store (of course I forgot my camera)with my mom and just browsed till I found a 1962 copy of "Heloise Household Hints", I had to pick this lil book up and bring her home for a good read.

So Wed. DD goes in for her lil surgery, she is very scared and every day we have to comfort her, She's 10 and if I could go thru it for her I would! It should be a lil in and out surgery and lots of hugs and ice cream afterwards!

I hope ya'll enjoyed your Monday!

Bringing Some Christmas Cheer to Mom

My mom and lil Sister were having a hard time decorating for Christmas, It's almost 3 years since Dad's Horrible passing. SO I loaded the family up and we went over to help, Mom made a huge pot of Split Pea soup and cake for dessert last night and I brought along my new Camera, we are still playing around with all the nice features and getting used to it...It even has a Paneramic? pics, It takes 3 pics and stitches them together to make a big pic..How Nice is that!!! DH was playing around with the ornaments and focus so some might seem out of focus..

Today I'm having lunch here at my house with JenW from http://purtygirlprimitives.blogspot.com/ She doesn't live very far from me it turns out. We will be sure to grab a pic to share.

It's dreary, rainy and nasty outside today..Good for hiding in my Sewing room..lol..
